    About Me

I am an art educator. Have been in the arts for my entire life and settled in visual art. Transitioned from corporate advertising and marketing positions to education and haven't looked back. I was totally involved in computer art for over 20 years and when I started at my school had to go back to the basic fine arts; painting, sculpting, printmaking, etc. I love it, I have to admit moving away from the electronic world was important for me. But I was in it on the other side. Useability, design, metrics, web development, etc. but at that point youth and their useability were a small part of the landscape and social networking was still just getting off the ground. Now we have twittering, facebook is hardcore, etc. and students are creating and maintaining themselves on a virtual platform more than in real time. Our schools have made electronic devices into contraband with random sweeps regularly. I can tell you from experience, without their devices they are extremely uncomfortable. With them, they are totally disengaged from the classroom. My position is...especially as a former marketing strategist...why don't we meet them where they are?
