About Me
The last twenty years of my life have been spent mostly in the field of education, either as a teacher, an administrator, or as a producer of educational software. My teaching experience includes universities, public education, and private ESL schools overseas. I have held Adjunct Professor positions at Portland State University and Western Washington University, taught English in the Public school system in Japan, and taught ESL in Japan, Malaysia, and the Czech Republic. My administrative and managerial experience includes universities, private English schools, and high tech companies. I was the facility manager of one the fifteen Britannica International language schools in Japan. In this position I increased enrollment from 60 students to 600 students and hired and trained 10 teachers. At the University of Nevada, Japan, a satellite program allowing Japanese nationals to complete their first academic year in Japan and then transfer with full credit in their second year to the US campus, I was the Head Start Coordinator ensuring a smooth transition. I spent five years at Pearson Education, the leading producer of educational software for k-12 schools, managing all aspects of educational projects: UI, creative, development, and deployment, including the leading k-12 product SuccessMaker. I hold a MS in English from Portland State University, an MA in Political Science from Western Washington University, a PMP from the Project Management Institute In San Francisco, and CELTA ESL certification from the Cambridge University, RSA Examination Board. My extensive educational background, technological knowledge, and experience living, working, and educating around the world would be best put to use in the public education system in the United States.
