About Me

Born and raised in Maryland, USA, I am a global citizen at heart. Having been an educator in the early years through university, both in the USA and China for over thirty years, I am passionate about international education and celebrating our diversity and uniqueness. I share an added perspective of having raised children and teens as an expatriate parent. My grown children are multi-lingual and multi-cultural, having lived, schooled and worked abroad for over a decade. As a trained International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program and Montessori educator, I am committed to student-centered, technology infused, inquiry based learning, preparing students to become life-long learners. I am a firm believer in community and community service, beginning with supporting families through active communication and involvement. Student learning is optimized when supported by the entire school community. This includes shared learning between all members of the community. My life long interest has been in the area of attachment theory and child development, my more current study has been in the need for nature education and advocacy, driven by my own children's call to action.
