About Me
My passions are education, technology and community. This has led me to work with a variety of organisations on an eclectic range of projects since I started working in 1994. My passion for community comes from my parents; I’ve been involved in community organisations since I can remember. I’ve held a wide range of voluntary and paid positions in the community sector – including managing two non-profit organisations and serving on the Boards of both non-profit and philanthropic organisations. I’m currently working with the J R McKenzie Trust, and provide pro-bono support for two community organisations each year. My interest in technology started when I learned to programme our family computer at age ten, and has continued to grow since. While I no longer programme, I love exploring ways technology can aid connections between people and help them learn from each other. I’m currently working on projects that look at how internet and mobile technologies can be used in ‘non-desk’ professions such as farming, construction and forestry. I have twelve years experience working as an adult educator and facilitator. This has included researching, designing, and delivering facilitation, training and assessment both in New Zealand and internationally. I have a BA in Linguistics and Political Science, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and certificates in both online and face-to-face facilitation. I’m also a trained ‘Assessment by Professional Conversation™’ assessor. I live in Wellington with my fiancé Kevin, and when I’m not working, love laughter, cycling, cooking for friends, good books and sound recording.
