About Me

St James Lutheran School is a Christian private school in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Our mission is to provide inquiry-based learning with a Christian worldview to prepare students for success. We work to expose our students to a wide range of academic disciplines so that students can gain mastery of critical thinking skills while developing different ways to express themselves creatively. We began as a small school society by a group of German immigrants in 1857, and have grown to be able to provide preschool and prekindergarten classes to families even beyond our faithful congregation. We are able to serve Bucktown, Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, Oldtown and most of Chicago’s North Side with our private school services. We now offer five early childhood classrooms, an elementary division (grades 1 through 4), and a departmentalized middle school that leads graduates to some of Chicago’s best high schools. We offer our kids an extensive student library and middle-school sized gym. St James Lutheran School provides a great value for education with a Christian perspective in Chicago.
